Think of 1 mile. Now think of 240 miles with up to 25kg on your back over bog and rock. Alone. Renowned composer Matilda Brown (piano, voice, samples) , accompanied by Graeme Stephen (jazz guitar) and Ruth Rowlands (cello), present an evocative musical performance in response to Matilda’s solo journey across the Highlands of Scotland.
Photographs and text that accompany the performance are extracts and fragments taken from Matilda’s diary. Slideshow informed by Gerry O’Brien and additional photography by Nick Rawle.
‘The electrifying sense of spontaneity and occasional vulnerability, was compelling, visceral, quite intoxicating.’ The Scotsman
