Faces of Faith is a series of representations of faces of deities from across different faiths and eras. The deities themselves come to us as statues, reliefs and other objects of veneration constituting the marvellous and rich body of devotional art to be found in churches, temples, altars and now museums all over the world.
In this series Lydia interprets faces of gods from Greece, India, China, Mexico, Japan, Egypt, Europe, unifying them all by identical format and displaying them all together in a group. What transpires is that for all their individual characteristics, and despite their pre-eminent importance to the faiths they represent, they are all in fact equal.
