Beata skobodzinska: Festival DIRECTOR

Beata joined the Just Team in 2012 as events planner and admin assistant. Since then she has been involved in programming Just events, developing and delivering Just projects as well as building networks and connections that lead to exciting collaborations with local, national and international partners. Beata is passionate about addressing social justice matters in creative ways by means of expressive arts and community projects.

Beata holds MA in English Language, PG Certificate in European Integration, PG Certificate in SME Management and PG Certificate in Festival Management. Beata came to Edinburgh from Poland to study Festival Management and has made it her home since.


james bryson: Events planner & communications coordinator

James joined Just in 2016 to work on events planning and promotion of the festival. James is currently responsible for planning the conversation programme for Just Festival 2017, as well as other events that are held regularly throughout the year such as the Conscious Film Screenings and PhD in an Hour. James is passionate about giving individuals and organisations a platform to promote and exchange ideas on how to tackle inequalities and injustice across society

Originally from Bradford, James is a graduate of the University of Edinburgh where he studied Politics. James has been attending and working at the Edinburgh Festivals for many years, and is looking forward to his first festival season with Just Festival.


Karen Dünzkofer: intern

Karen Dünzkofer joined Just in March 2017 as an intern and is currently responsible for diversifying Just’s fundraising activities. Her remit is to connect with companies in Edinburgh and beyond, and to encourage them to live into their corporate social responsibility by supporting Just, its aims, and its objectives.

Karen is passionate about raising awareness on issues of social justice connected to our global culture of diversity and plurality. She would like for Just to become a vehicle to achieve this in Edinburgh’s business and financial world.

Karen is a MBA student from Germany. She finished her Bachelor in Social Economics in June 2016 and since October 2016 she is doing her Master in Human Resource Management. Karen came to Edinburgh in February 2017 to volunteer half a year for Just and at St John’s.



Mark, who is a member of the congregation of St John’s church, joined the Board of Just Festivals when it was incorporated in 2011.  As a qualified Chartered Accountant, Mark also acts as Treasurer overseeing all financial aspects of the running the Charity.  Mark went to the University of Edinburgh where he studied Civil Engineering, graduating in 1989.  He is the Office Senior Partner for PwC, in Edinburgh.  He is also a member of the Governing Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland, and a past Chair of the charity Young Enterprise Scotland. 





Frances cooper: board member

Frances is in her second term on the board, as the representative trustee of Edinburgh City Centre Churches Together(ECCT), one of the organisations with which the festival has a close partnership.  She is an elder in St Andrew’s & St George’s West Church, and part of her role is to report back to ECCT on the work of the festival and foster links with the individual congregations involved. 

A professional singer, she has performed in concert around the UK and recorded on the Delphian and Linn record labels.   As a singing teacher, she teaches individual pupils of all ages, and runs vocal workshops for adults.
